Design exosomes
Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles secreted by various cells, and are attracting attention as new mediators of intercellular communication. In particular, exosomes have been found to be involved in various biological phenomena, such as the progression of cancer and regulation of immune responses, and drug discovery that targets or uses exosomes is highly anticipated. In recent years, by transfecting genes into cultured cells, it has become possible to freely express target proteins on exosomes produced by those cells. Som development is underway. However, the safety of transfected cells and exosomes has not yet been elucidated, so there is a need to develop exosomes that respond to specific diseases by other safe production methods.
At our company, we are developing technology to safely produce designed exosomes by including specific factors in the medium during culture without gene transfer. We aim to develop innovative treatments with our technology that were impossible with existing technology and help treat various diseases.
